About This Spot

Stepping into the Panera Bread on San Marcos Boulevard, you’re greeted by a bright, airy space that immediately invites a calm pause in the middle of a bustling day. The ample seating and neatly arranged tables, along with well-lit interiors, create a quiet comfort that’s rare for a spot so connected to everyday life’s rhythm. It’s a place where the pace feels thoughtfully balanced — casual, yet purposefully efficient, perfect for a slow breakfast, a quick lunch, or a thoughtful moment with a cup of coffee in hand.

The friendly energy here is subtle but unmistakable, reflected in the welcoming smiles of the staff and the steady hum of contented guests. Whether you’re settling in to savor a freshly baked pastry or grabbing a sandwich to-go, there’s a feeling that each order receives genuine care. It’s not just about food, but about fitting into the flow of your day seamlessly.

Menu offerings here take on a comfortable, familiar quality — fresh-baked breads that fill the air with warmth, and comforting flavors that strike a balance between nourishing and indulgent. Thoughtful touches like avocado melting gently into smoked chicken or the spice of a smoky ranch dressing bring a quiet joy with every bite. Drinks echo this same attention, with naturally flavored lemonades and herbal teas enhancing the experience without overwhelming it.

This Panera sits comfortably in its community — a reliable crossroads where people come for nourishing food, a clean and pleasant atmosphere, and a moment of ease in the daily shuffle. The spacious layout, including a thoughtfully designed outdoor area, invites visitors to linger a little longer or simply pass through with grace and convenience.

Brand new Panera on San Marcos Blvd! It has a huge parking lot, EV chargers, and it's super nice and bright inside! Very clean and well-stocked with tons of pastries, on top of their normal foods. So delicious! We ordered the Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt meal, and another to go!

I like this Panera Bread location. The staff is very friendly and keeps the place tidy. The food is well prepared and done at a good pace. On a busy lunch, the most I've waited is 10 minutes. The food is tasty, and the portions are good.

Update - just visited the new drive thru location. The new place is great. Good parking, plenty of space inside and a great outside eating area too. LOVE this place! Get the app and order from your phone - saves time for sure!

The food was given promptly and it was delicious. The southwest salad had lots of avocado and chicken and most importantly the dressing. The Mac and cheese was hot and very good also my turkey bravo sandwich had a lot of turkey and the sauce.

Let me start by saying my food was delicious. I had the tomato soup and half a chicken sandwich both were good. But that's where the good parts of this visit end. I'm aware that many restaurants these days are working with skeleton crews... having said that the poor young lady behind the counter was handling six different things instead of just helping people at the register. When she eventually got to me several minutes later, she was pleasant and answered a couple of my menu item questions with a friendly smile. When I turned to find a table to wait for my food, I found that more than 90% of the tables in the restaurant were taken by "plug-in" people on their laptops and tablets. They were mostly young people, so I'm assuming they were students doing homework or research, which is all fine except there was practically nowhere to sit for customers of the restaurant. I noticed that all of these young people used the same practice to maintain the illusion of "I'm a customer" by slowly nibbling on a cookie, or milking a cup of coffee or iced tea. I assume this is how they monopolize these tables for hours while not actually spending any additional money. It's the same kind of thing you'll find at Starbucks and other similar restaurants. Panera needs to find a way to deal with this issue before it alienates the last of their loyal customers. I know that Starbucks has taken to removing all of the outlets from their lobby areas to discourage this kind of behavior and it seems to have been successful, at least in the local Starbucks that I frequent. I understand that students need a place to study and read but I don't think it's the seating area of restaurants or coffee shops that are trying to stay open by serving new and more customers. Given the fact that Panera Bread is currently facing significant challenges including revenue decline, it needs to find a solution to this issue.

Very well rounded and we'll run Panera Bread. You know what to expect Everytime you visit any Panera Bread - so nothing new on that side. The place is very clean and adequately staffed. They have a good selection of Coffee and good number of Souffle. Unlike other Panera Bread, you have a better chance to get your choice of Souffle past 10:30am here. Other than that, it is conveniently located in San Marcos with ample parking.
